You have created a Facebook page for one of your community project or for your products or services, and the first thing you do is to fill up all the contents about your page is served about. This is very important steps as when your visitor visit your page, then, you need to pass them the information about the page, what is the contact information, where to find your location and so on.

Let me take an example on my latest page setup for one of my community project, called "Konvesyen Inspirasi Usahawan" - it just setup mid of this week, and we start filling up all the contents about the page. We also grab a help from Huemedia Enterprise for the Page's cover design & Profile picture, they are an expert in graphic design & advertising. ok here is the snap of the page today as below.

You can see that the address is pretty lengthy with the numbers that is very hard to remember. And here are the reasons you need a username for your page.

1. Makes it easier for people to find your business, brand or organization's presence on Facebook.
2. Your Page web address (URL) can be used in any marketing communications channels, company website and business cards.

How to create Username for your page

Step 1: From the top of your Page, click Edit Page
Step 2: Select Update Page Info

Step 3: Click Page Address, then click Change web address

Then, click on the Create a web address for this page? link that appeared

Step 4: Enter a new username and click Check Availability

  Choose your username here  

For this page, I just use the InspirasiUsahawan for easy to remember & shorter than with the word Konvesyen.

Once you click on the Check Availability button, a pop up page will come out with the important message as per below.

Few important messages here:
a. You can change your username later only once after you choose this username.
b. You CANNOT transfer the ownership of this username to other people, however, you can assign other people to become a manager for this page.
c. Ensure your username does not violate other people trademarks.

If you are confirm, just press the button confirm there.

Once confirmed, a new pop up windows will appear to tell you on the successful of creating the username & the new URL where people can use it & much easier to remember now. :) Just press the Okay button then.

Step 5: Start Promoting your new URL for your page, that is easier to remember & reflecting to your page purposes.

For shorter URL, you also can use the shorter version of the URL as www.fb.com/inspirasiusahawan

 Important: Here are a few things to remember when you create a custom username:

• You can't claim a username someone else is already using.
• Choose a username you'll be happy with for the long term. Usernames are not transferable and you can only change your username once.
• Usernames can only contain alphanumeric characters (A-Z, 0-9) or a period (".").
• Periods (".") and capitalization don't count as a part of a username. For example, johnsmith55, John.Smith55 and john.smith.55 are all considered the same username.
• Usernames must be at least 5 characters long and can't contain generic terms.
• Your username must adhere to Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities.
